Kafe Kajak & the city of bridges

Sandee rang this morning to see if I could work, one of the girls had rung in sick.

It is tough working in a kitchen with such a fabulous view out every window.... It is only the second time I have jumped in to help them, but I loved it as much as I did the first time.

It brings back so many memories: being with mum when she worked at my uncle's Windsor Reception Centre, working with my dad, Akvavit the Swedish restaurant at Southgate and working for catering companies while at uni. I really enjoy being in kitchen like this and it is nice to work with Robert too. (I can say that coz I haven't seen him stressed - a stressed chef with is a danger to all! hahaha!! )

The day was way too quiet, hardly worth being open, as the promise of sunshine and warmer weather failed to eventuate. Still, at least we had a function to prepare for. All in all it was a good excuse to leave Ty at home on his own with the kids and get out and do something different, and they know I'm keen to earn a little extra cash if I can.

The cafe is a 20 minute bike ride away from us - over to one of Stockholm's main islands, on bike paths, through a park and over a big bridge. It is a hilly but good ride. But I could have done with some gloves on this surprisingly chilly September day.

The view from the top of the bridge is great - looking left towards Kungsholmen and right towards Stora Essingen and Alvik Strand.

  1. Nice to know I'm not the only one putting in extra kitchen work:D I have to admit though I haven't been to the place!
